Hello! Thank you for being here. My name is Maritza and I’ve worked with children in various roles; as a Preschool Teacher, Community-based and School-based Mental Health Therapist, for over a decade.
My approach includes meeting the child where they’re at developmentally. I consider children’s cultural identities, strengths, learning styles, preferences and capacity. I incorporate humor and play within the therapy as I’m a big believer that play is the child’s language and toys are their words.
I’ve been a client of EMDR myself and have lived experience that allows me to provide genuine understanding and empathy to children and their families, (who are the ones who know the child best!)
I’m passionate about EMDR and truly believe in its ability to foster healing in children and families alike.
